7eventy 7even is 77 found micro dramas from the streets, squares and markets of Victoria BC brought to life by nine professional actors. A mosaic of overheard and invented words, lines and conversations, 7eventy 7even works like a 'cledon,' an ancient form of divination where the answers to private dilemmas may be found by public chance.
You may hear a conversation you had a year ago - who knows?
And hey, 7eventy 7even is short - like maybe a half hour - so we've teamed up with our friends at Monkey C Interactive to turn the night into an event. Our mini labyrinth lobby will be alive with art - mash-up analog-digital pieces you can manipulate. The lobby will be part speak easy, part social hive. Arrive just before the lobby opens, hang out for a bit, watch a super short hilarious play, then hang out a little more.
Charles Tidler is a playwright, novelist and poet. Born in Ohio, he grew up in Tipton, Indiana, and earned a B.A. from Purdue, studying literature and philosophy. His most recent work is the novella Useless Things [Redacted], published by Ekstasis Editions in 2016. He lives in Victoria, B.C., and is the father of two sons.
