Encourage your child to step playfully into their dramatic side. Working with story making, playing with music, movement, artwork and creative drama exercises, students will be warmly encouraged to develop their expressive skills, and confidence. Collaborative group work, dramatic expression in movement and voice, creating simple costumes and props will all be part of this wonderful creative week. At the end of the week; there will be a sharing of some of the exercises, activities and stories they have worked on.

Fight Safely!

Join local Fight Director Peter Abrahams for five days of Unarmed Stage Combat!  Peter will take you through all the basics of striking and defence, all with a focus on safety.  Designed for beginners, this workshop will look at the aspects of targeting, distance, and technique while using choreography and physicality as storytelling tools. Students will find out what it is like to work with a Fight Director in a play. Great listening skills and a willingness to follow instruction are essential to keeping you safe. A perfect opportunity to channel all that last-week-of-school energy.

Fight Safely!

Join local Fight Director Peter Abrahams for five days of Unarmed Stage Combat!  Students will build a vocabulary of striking, defending, and of course, safety.  Participants will have a chance to write and direct their own scenes while incorporating dialogue and stage acting skills.  There will also be an introduction to stage weaponry and the specific safety measures involved. Great listening skills and a willingness to follow instruction are essential to keeping you safe.

Let’s get funny!

Is your child a natural comedian? Do they love to laugh, and make others laugh too? In Sketch Comedy 101 with Tony Adams, students will  learn the basics of sketch comedy including comedic timing, character development, physical comedy, sketch writing, and more! Working with games, script-work, improvised scenes, rehearsals, and original creation, we’ll find our funny bones and encourage confidence in ourselves and on stage. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Monty Python, All That, and The Muppet Show, the week will end with a performance of our very own sketch comedy show!

What did you just say?!

For kids who love making funny voices and doing impressions. Over one week Students will explore different animated characters with Sarah Wilson and find out how to make them come alive using just your voice.  Learn how to better control your creative vocal talents and use your instincts to create a variety of fully fleshed out characters. Students will learn about where the voice sits in the body, including things like accents, high voices, and low voices, and how to manipulate it to suit a character. We will also talk about how to approach a voiceover audition.

FILM CAMP (Ages 9 & up)

Make your own movie!

A five day fun-filled camp where students will create  a short movie collaboratively with teachers. Together they will create and present an original concept film, along with sketches, (fake) commercials and movie trailers, and learn to slate for auditions! Video-taping and playback are used throughout the camp to monitor the progress and provide the understanding of how to work on camera for young actors. On the final day, we will have our own world premiere of our movie for parents and guests!

La La Land.

During this busy week students will dance, act, sing, learn warm-ups, choreography, create characters, perform scenes, and string songs together into a mash-up of Musical Theatre hits. By the end of the week they will have a full musical performance extravaganza showcase for the parents and friends, complete with musical theatre songs and dances.. Student will also explore acting exercises to find the story of the songs they sing. No experience required – students don’t need to read music.

SPOKEN WORD POETRY FOR TEENS (Ages 13 – 17)

Calling all youth poets! For those teens who love writing poetry, spoken word, slam, stories, and even songwriting. This camp is a week long poetry intensive where Emilee will help you discover inspiring  stories that inspire us and speak them to life. Poets will work with prompts, freewrites, editing, group writing, making their own ChapBooks, performance techniques, all culminating in a final ‘Poetry Cafe’ performance at the end of the week to showcase their poetic brilliance! No experience necessary; only an open mind, curiosity, and a love of words.

CHARACTER BUILDING FOR TEENS (Ages 12 – 17)

In this camp students will learn how to harness the creative spark of an idea and build a fully-formed, multi-dimensional character. Don’t have an idea yet? Don’t worry! Through engaging prompts and activities we will invent, explore, discover and design the most fascinating and fun characters – all of your making! Already have an idea? Let’s make it a reality! The camp will culminate in a final performance of a solo piece by each student, to show off all your hard work.
