Submission Deadline Extended
Theatre SKAM’s Bike Ride seeks new 10-minute works to be performed outdoors in Victoria, BC on two weekends in July.
Theatre SKAM is seeking submissions of interest from Canadian artists for our upcoming project Bike Ride (July 2013). This live performance event features original 10-minute performances by artists stationed (outside) along the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. Performances are repeated over the course of five hours as audiences ride their bikes, in groups of 12, from show to show. SKAM encourages applications from all disciplines as last year’s event featured comedy, drama, storytelling, spoken word, improv and dance.
Up to 12 short works and two or three roving entertainers, who appear at the festival’s central gathering area- the hub, will be programmed. Successful applicants will be paid a fee.
Successful applicants from outsideVictoria will also receive accommodation and travel support.
New for 2013: Theatre SKAM is pleased to offer successful Bike Ride applicants creation support leading up to the 2013 festival. Established theatre artists and companies based in Victoria and Vancouver will provide this support, with mentors and work plans tailored to match each applicant.
Also New for 2013: Theatre SKAM is interested in applications from outside BC, and we look to program two out-of-province companies/ artists. Thanks to the Department of Canadian Heritage for their ongoing support of Bike Ride.
